Marlink, Vizada and our joint sales agent, Industrial & Naval Group (ING) complete Argentina Roadshow circuit.
.jpg) The show begins at the crossing of the Strait of Magellan just east of Punta Arenas,Chile for a nine hour, gravel road bus ride to Ushuaia, Argentina aka Fin del Mundo (End of the World). Here, we had an unplanned, impromptu coffee with the operations directors of six cold water fishing companies. The directors were in Ushuaia attempting to resolve an ongoing labor dispute with the Port’s longshoremen. We welcomed the opportunity to meet and promote our product and services with the decision makers of the industry.
Next in line was Puerto Madryn. This small port city is located in northern Patagonia just south of the Valdez Peninsula (has same UN status as the Galapagos Islands) and is home port to the fishing fleet of five Argentine joint-venture South African and Spanish fishing companies primarily fishing for Hake and squid. We held the seminar at the local Fish Union facility with a small but enthusiastic audience.
From beautiful Puerto Madryn we drove north 12 hours to Argentina’s largest fishing port, Mar Del Plata. MDP is home of Armada Argentina (Argentine Navy) and the Escuela National De Pesca (National School of Fishing). We held our seminar at the school’s main auditorium with 107 local fishing company managers, school professors and graduating students (future Captains and Chief Engineers). The seminar was well received and we received an open invitation to return from the school’s Director of Education.
The final seminar was held in Argentina’s capital city, Buenos Aires at COPITEC (Consejo Profesional de Ingenieria de Telecomunicaciones Electronica y Computación) conference facility. The attendees were comprised of Argentine shipping and fishing company executives and purchasing managers.
We feel the new synergy shown during the Argentine roadshow will bring future customers and has strengthened are relationship with our current customers.
